Vanilla Waffle Recipe
This receipe for traditional waffles is easy to prepare and has a hint of vanilla. Make a large batch and freeze what you don't use. Reheat in a toaster oven and have quick breakfasts for weeks to come.
Ingredients for traditional vanilla waffles:2 cup All-purpose flour 1/2 tsp Baking soda 1 tsp Baking powder 1/2 tsp Salt 3 tbsp Sugar 1 tsp Vanilla extract (or 1 tbsp imitation vanilla flavoring) 3 Eggs 1/4 cup Vegetable oil (choose one without its own flavor) 2 cup Milk 2 tbsp Lemon Juice Vegetable oil to brush waffle iron InstructionsIn a bowl mix the milk and lemon juice and let sit for 15 minutes (note that ths is really a substitutio for buttermilk. You can use 2 cups of buttermilk instead if you prefer.In another bowl, beat the eggs by hand and add the cooking oil, beat until well mixed. Add the milk mixture and vanilla, and beat once again until well mixed. In a third bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, baking poweder, salt, and sugar. Then add the liquid mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until well mixed. Move the bowl to the refigerator and let stand for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat the waffle iron. When heated, pour the batter into the waffle iron and cook until ready. The amount of mix added to the iron, the cooking time, and the number of waffles you will get from this recipe varies depending on the details of the waffle iron you use. If you make extra waffles that you will not be eating immediately, move them individually to a rack in the freezer, and let freeze for an hour. Once frozen, transfer then to a bag, and store in the freezer. To reheat, take one from the bag and heat it in a toaster or on the toast setting in a toaster oven. |
